Ballybunion is ideally situated overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, cosseted by its world-famous championship golf links to the South and its spectacular cliffs and coastline to the North. It has been a family resort since early in the last century and its safe sandy beaches remain as beautiful to this day.

With its renewed awareness of natural healing remedies, Ballybunion finds itself once again blessed by mother nature, with the therapeutic effects of a seaweed bath being recognised in Ballybunion for generations. The soothing effects are celebrated in the writings of Brendan Kennelly and John B. Keane, two of North Kerry's most famous authors.

As an alternative to a day on the beach, a ramble along the rugged cliffs is a truly breathtaking experience. The spectacular views across the Shannon Estuary coupled with the magnificent rock formations are truly unique. Experience the feel of salt-spray on one's face from the legendary Nine Daughters blowhole where it is said a local chieftain in a wild rage cast all nine of his daughters to their deaths.

South of these cliffs are the world-famous sand-dunes, which it is said nature sculpted with the golfer in mind. 36 Championship holes comprise the renowned Ballybunion Golf Links.

For the golfer, these famous links are a must with numerous high-profile visitors every year such as Ernie Els, Greg Norman, Tiger Woods, Mark O'Meara and Jack Nicklaus. Indeed, Tom Watson has described this gem of golf architecture as "the finest links course in the world" and he plays the course regularly. He is also Ballybunion Golf Club Captain for the year 2000. This incidentally is also the year that Ballybunion hosts the Murphy's Irish Open.

US president Bill Clinton joined a long list of distinguished visitors when he played our course in 1998. Ballybunion tales pride in the fact that the not-so-famous golfer is afforded the same welcome. To this end our members allocate a substantial amount of tee-times at a competitive rate to non-members so that they too can enjoy what we take for granted.

Íragh Tí Connor is located just 15 miles from the Tarbert/Killimer car ferry, and 40 miles from Killarney and its famous lakes. This makes Ballybunion the perfect base from which to explore the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher in Co. Clare, and southwards the fantastic Dingle Peninsula and the Ring of Kerry.
